2021 — HEK — deepblue networks

A digital companion for your health insurance.

The challenge
Knowing which services are covered by your health insurance provider and how to claim them is not obvious in Germany’s public healthcare system. Lowering the barrier to access those services with an app is not only beneficial for users but also an important trait when it comes to winning new clients.

The former HEK Service app got a bit outdated. The number of services, have grown considerably over the years. A new mailbox, a chat and the option to share documents were screeming for a new concept.
About HEK
HEK – Hanseatische Krankenkasse is one of the oldest health insurance providers in Germany. HEK attaches great importance to good service, which they provide to members through personal contact and online. The HEK service app can be used to manage documents, make doctor's appointments, and obtain information about HEK benefits.

A fresh look

Deepblue networks were tasked to design an app that serves as a gateway for exchanging information and documents between the HEK and their clients.

The new app is easy to use and has modern design with services that allow customers to exchange documents, obtain information and receive support at any time and from anywhere.

Accessibility

To meet the needs of all users, we focussed on usability, contrast of key elements and readability. For the latter, we used native elements to scale the content from Android and Apple.

My role

As the UX/UI co-lead, our team took care of the entire design process from start to finish. We worked on the concept and the user interface and took care of the handover to the external development team.
